Playable Croydon

SPATIAL DESIGN | WORKSHOP

How can we inspire young people to think critically about their environment? How can we help develop their spatial understanding?

This project was a collaboration with Rahma Dridi, an enthusiastic urban planner and workshop facilitator who created 'Play and Learn the City' in Milan.

Over the course of three days, 12 students from Harris Purely Academy in Croydon took part in the Playable Croydon workshop. The students were actively engaged in identifying and developing their understanding of their local environment through key sites chosen around Croydon's City Centre - sites where they study, live and enjoy their free time.

Status: Completed

Client: Migrant’s Bureau (Self-funded)

Location: Croydon, London

How can we inspire young people to think critically about their environment?

Through these activities, the students found out more about the built environment as a profession.

The outcomes of their experimentation were compiled into digital portfolios, in addition to getting matched up with architecture, landscape and development firms for a week's work experience placement. Giving the students a valuable experience in both the practical, hands on and professional sides of the built environment.
